Abstract

 In the present study an attempt has been made to compile the information on various medicinal uses of 30 commonly available pteridophytes belonging to 21 families and 23 genera from the Adimali Block Panchayat of Idukki District, Kerala. The medicinal uses of such pteridophytic plants and their active constituents would be helpful in treating various kinds of diseases.

Abstract

Present paper describes in details the petiole collected from the Deccan Intertrappean Beds of Maraipatan of Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state. The fossil specimen is exposed in transverse plane measuring 0.5 cm. in length and 1.45 X 1.78 mm in diameter.  It shows many resemblances with Marsilea. Hence authors placed it with the genus Marsilea as an extinct species Marsilea patnii sp. nov.

Abstract

This communication deals with the distribution of the species belongs to Pteridophytic flora in some villages of the Razole Mandal, East Godavari district, AP. Studies were made for a period of one year from January to December 2013 on species distribution of Pteridophytes in agricultural fields of the different villages in Razole Mandal.  A total of 10 species belongs to 8 families were reported in this investigation. These species were present in the coconut fields, along the side of the creeks and canals. Dominant forms reported in this study were species of Marselia, Salvinia, Azolla and Pteris.
